Scripture by topic
If you searched for this, something is probably sitting on your chest right now. Scripture does not tell anxious people to try harder at not being anxious. It tells them where to put the weight.
These passages are grouped by what you might need first. You do not have to read all of them. Find the one that meets you and stay there.
The Bible's answer to worry is almost always a person, not a technique. Start here.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, so that in due time He may exalt you.
7 Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:6-7
Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.
Psalm 55:22
I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 34:4
When anxiety overwhelms me, Your consolation delights my soul.
Psalm 94:19
Most anxiety is spent on a day that has not arrived. Jesus addresses that directly, and gently.
25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Matthew 6:25-27
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:34
Anxiety weighs down the heart of a man, but a good word cheers it up.
Proverbs 12:25
You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3
Not encouragement — footing. These are the promises to hold when your own feelings are not reliable.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
Isaiah 41:10
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
John 14:27
When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.
Psalm 56:3
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:7
Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or terrified of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
28 Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Pick the single verse that landed hardest and write it somewhere you will see it tomorrow morning — the lock screen, the bathroom mirror, the top of your to-do list. Anxiety is rarely argued down in one sitting; it loosens by repetition. One verse you actually return to beats twenty you read once.
A prayer you can borrow
Father, You already know what I am carrying, so I am not going to pretend it is smaller than it is. I am asking You to take the weight of it. Where I cannot stop the worrying, meet me anyway. Give me enough peace for today, and let tomorrow be Yours. Amen.

No. The Psalms are full of God's people naming fear out loud, and Jesus Himself was in anguish in Gethsemane. When Scripture says "be anxious for nothing," it is followed immediately by what to do instead — bring it to God — not by a rebuke for having felt it.
Philippians 4:6-7 is the one most people reach for, because it names the feeling and gives somewhere to put it. If you want one sentence to carry with you, 1 Peter 5:7 — "Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you" — is hard to beat.
Matthew 6:34 is the clearest word on it: today has enough trouble of its own. Jesus is not dismissing tomorrow's problems, He is saying you have not been given grace for them yet — that arrives on the day it is needed.
Scripture treats prayer as handing something over rather than talking yourself out of it, which is why Philippians pairs it with a peace that "surpasses all understanding" — peace that doesn't depend on the situation resolving first. It is also not a reason to skip a doctor or counsellor if you need one.
