Kindled privacy policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
Kindled is a ministry app from Great Faith (greatfaith.com) for married couples. What you write in Kindled is some of the most personal information there is, so the app is built to collect as little as possible and to keep what it does hold private: from strangers, from us, and from your spouse unless you choose to share it.
What you share with your spouse
- Every answer is yours to share, keep private, or skip.
- Your spouse sees only what you share. A private answer, a skipped question and a question you haven't reached look exactly the same to them.
- Your spouse never sees when you opened the app, how often you answer, or how you've responded to past invitations.
What we collect
- What you write: your answers, reflections, invitations, check-ins and intimacy profile. These are encrypted in our database with keys used only for Kindled.
- Your first name, from Apple or as you enter it, so your spouse knows it's you.
- Your Apple sign-in. Apple gives us an identifier for your Apple Account. We store it only as a one-way scrambled value, used to recognize you when you sign in. We also keep, encrypted, a token Apple provides so we can end your Apple sign-in when you delete your account. We do not ask Apple for your email address.
- Your device: a push notification token (only if you allow notifications), your app version and your time zone, so "today" means today where you live.
- The days you open Kindled (the date only, not the time), and whether you opened it from a notification. This helps us learn whether Kindled is helping couples.
- Server logs: like any website, our servers record technical details of requests, such as IP address and device type, for a limited time, to keep the service running and secure. What you write is kept out of these logs.
What we don't collect
No email address, contacts, location, photos, health data or advertising identifiers. Kindled shows no ads, contains no third-party analytics or advertising software, and never sells or shares your information for advertising.
Kept apart from greatfaith.com
A Kindled account is not a Great Faith website account. Kindled data lives in its own database, and signing up for Kindled never adds you to any Great Faith mailing list.
Who can see it at Great Faith
No one at Great Faith can read what you write in Kindled; our tools have no screen that shows it. Staff can see that an account exists, its first name, and simple usage counts, such as the number of days a couple has used the app.
Services we rely on
- Our hosting provider runs the servers and encrypted database.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and delivers notifications.
- Expo relays notifications to Apple. It sees your device's push token and the notification text, which is always "You have something new in Kindled."
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings, then Delete account. This deletes your account and intimacy profile, and the space you shared with your spouse: answers, reflections, invitations and check-ins, for both of you. Your spouse keeps their own account and profile. We also end your Apple sign-in for Kindled. Encrypted backups are kept for up to 30 days and then removed.
Age
Kindled is for married adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes and contact
If we change what we collect or how it's used, we'll update this page and tell you in the app. Questions: support@greatfaith.com.
